The Recap : 2018

TSM Team

2018 was an amazing year. This year a group of friends turned an idea into reality. Fueled by the desire to bring our community something tangible and give exposure to not just the city we love and photograph but the street photographers that are out photographing, we started These Streets Magazine. For the whole team this is more than just a magazine. We hope to start a movement that helps bring photography back to its roots. This is a platform where one day centuries from now people can go back and view pivotal moments captured throughout history. The importance of photography in documenting recent history cannot be understated. It is a our most valuable tool in providing the world with a way to remember past events and document the future. We are here to not only preserve what has already been captured, but to also inspire future generations to do the same.

Towards the end of the summer we released our first issue and held a small exhibition/release party in the backyard of one of the founding members. Selling over 75 copies of our first issue we were humbled with the amount of support we received and quickly began preparations for our next issue. Before the Christmas holiday we held our second exhibition and launched issue 2 of Los Angeles. Now, entering a new year, we are very excited to continue this work and push the art of photography into new uncharted territory.

The journey we have endured these past 6 months has not been easy. We have already experienced some difficulties, but the support we have received has been overwhelming and has motivated us to continue on this path. Learning so much in such little time, we are confident that coming into the New Year we ready to face any new challenges that may arise. Thank you for joining us on this wild ride and we are excited to see what 2019 has in store for us.
